Check my websight for new art.
Extatic! Just finished my most recent pastel "Oranges". Also, just for fun, completed an oil pastel "Mom". Check out my web-sight: alexmirrington.com. Love working with soft pastels and oil pastels. I think the thing that I most like about pastels is the variety of colors and the intensity of the pigment. Its like drawing, that is, the medium with which I have the most direct contact with the board or panel. There is no intermediary between me and my expression. Well, don't want to tire you for now, got to get on with my next project. I think I will use lemons for my next still life. Also would like to incorporate more variety in the textures. I'll let you know. Lets see what I come up with. I'll get back to you later on. For now chao.

Where to start?
For some time I've wanted in earnest to become an artist. This blog is my way of accepting the challenge. The challenge is my promise that I will do my best to improve my artwork and to keep you informed of my progress. I'm currently committed to working with soft pastels and increasing the size of my portfolio. For fun and to take my mind of regular work I draw with oil pastels. For the most part I prefer still life but at times I will indulge in other genre's.
In addition to drawing I've applied for membership of the Pastel Society of America with the ultimate goal of achieving a Signature Membership. I hope it doesn't take me to long. Ive also participated in some contest and hope I'm not being to precipitated but I'm dying to expose my art for feedback. I think the important thing is to try.
