"Allá Africa", oleo por Olga Albizu ca de 1957. Me impactó de sobremanera el despliegue de harmonía y energía en el uso de los elementos de composición. Sobre todo el uso del color agarró mi atención generando en mi una claridad natural en la emoción que no permitía que retirara mi vista. Me encantaría conocer su secreto pero me conformo con deleitarme sabiendo que éste, tan solo, reside en el alma de la artista. Ojalá pueda encontrar ese rincón en la mía.

Getting back to work.

It's been a long time since I posted my last comments but here I am again getting back on track with painting and/or drawing. Alfredo and I have settled into the new house and I'm finally getting a chance to return to my pastels. At our new place I've plenty of space to work which gives me the added advantage of being more productive. So I hope I can make it interesting enough that you will keep in touch and follow me to see where it takes us. I promise to do my best and make it worth while, at least most of the time.

Time flies but not fast enough.

July first will be a great day for me. We move into our new home and once settled down I'll be able to start working again. I'll be moving into my studio and setting it up for work. For now I'm taking advantage of my time trying to set up some kind of business model for my artistic life. Working out the goals, the accounting, the pricing and so on and so forth. Also stocking up on the materials I'll need to inmediatly start working such as soft pastel sticks, supports, pencils etc.

Today at three we go through the inspection process to get a better understanding of the new house we are acquiring. So we'll find out if there is any reason why we should not go through with this transaction. Hopefully everything will go well and we'll be on our way. So I say time flies but not fast enough but keep in touch soon work will start.

On the move again.

I haven't kept up with my blog as I've been moving out of my 5130 Alton house and in the ongoing adventure of finding a new place to live. Of course my plans for the end of April where derailed which means that I was not able to complete my Spring Collection commitment or at least fell short of my established goal. For the next couple of months, hopefully for a much shorter time, I will be focusing my efforts on finding a place to live. It is my hope that I will dedicate some of that time to my artwork. Currently, where I'm staying there is a wonderfull park which I would love to use for some pleinair work. However, I must admit it will be very difficult to dedicate any time to my art as you can inmagine.

Having said that, I hope to be back painting by October 2010, so please, definitly come back then if not before and I should be settled down and at my new art studio. Thank you for your patience.

Life's events that pull you away from art commitments.

My partner Alfredo and I are in the process of selling our house and moving to a smaller house which would be a better fit for our needs. As everyone knows this means that allot of our time will go to selling the old house and buying a new one with all the ups and downs and the stress that go along with it. This stress saps your energy which affects your art work. So, what to do about it? Keep focused! That is exactly what I'm going to do.
So to give me a little bit of a boost I'm going to give you a sneek peek at my most recent work. I've got very little more to do to it and I've called it "Titi Esters Cooking". I'm also working on another piece "Lemons" which I hope to complete soon; notwithstandind our moving project.
I'll keep this short and hope you enjoy this most recent work of mine and look foward to completing my next piece. Got to start working so I'll get back to you soon and don't forget to visit me at alexmirrington.com .
